Wall Street Journal published an article on the Polder2C's project and Living Lab Hedwige-Prosperpolder, titled "In the Land of Dikes, Nature now Reinforces Flood Defenses".
In October Dan Michaels, Brussels Bureau Chief at the Wall Street Journal, visited the Hedwige-Prosperpolder. He wanted to write an article on the extreme flooding in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany last summer and initiatives to battle the rising sea water level.
The article
Dan Michaels interviewed Patrik Peeters from Hydraulics Laboratory, Ludolph Wentholt and Marian Booltink, both from STOWA. They gave some background information on the research on levee erosion, animal burrowing and repair measures. Also, Phoebe Percell-Taureau from the US Army Corps of Engineers explained how the Polder2C's research helps them improve levee safety.
