Provincie Zeeland
Zeeland is one of the provinces in the Netherlands and safety of Zeeland’s inhabitants is one of their core priorities. Zeeland is one of the coastal areas of the Netherlands on the border of Belgium where the Hedwige and Prosperpolder are situated.
As partner of the Polder2C’s project, the Province is responsible for the planning, preparation and project management of the de-poldering of the Hedwige and Prosper polders.
Development region
The Province is also responsible for the development of the area after the de-poldering by connecting nature with agriculture, harbour activities and inhabitants as well as providing an economic impulse for the region. All these groups are united as 'streekholders', with the aim of adding value for everyone in the area. The knowledge and expertise of the Province, and most importantly, the local and regional network of 'streekholders' and connection to the general public is very valuable to this project.
International project experience
The Province of Zeeland is very experienced and is leader and partner in several Interreg projects, such as the Interreg V Vlaanderen-Nederland Grenspark Groot Saeftinghe. In this project, the Province co-operates with seven Flemish and Dutch partners on the development and establishment of a 'Border Park'.
