Department of Mobility and Public Works
Both Flanders Hydraulics and the Geotechnical division of the Department of Mobility and Public Works (MOW) support the Flanders Government by providing comprehensive, scientifically sound knowledge and advice on water systems and geotechnical structures.
The Department of Mobility and Public Works and STOWA are the lead partners and drivers of the Polder2C’s project. MOW is focusing on testing and demonstrating essential knowledge on levee strength.
Department of Mobility and Public Works
The Belgian Department of Mobility and Public Works assists the Minister with the realisation of the policy concerning the road sector and traffic safety, as also concerning the investment, maintenance and exploitation of the transport infrastructure, ports and regional airports.
Flanders Hydraulics
For more than 80 years, Flanders Hydraulics has been a centre of expertise for research and advice on hydraulic, nautical, sediment-related and hydrological topics. As a scientific institute and technical support service, it is a division of the department of Mobility and Public Works of the Government of Flanders.
International project experience
The Department of Mobility and Public Works and its divisions participated or still participates in several Interreg IV projects, such as SUSCOD, BLAST, REECZ, TIDE, FAIR, Building with Nature. Furthermore, MOW has been or is involved in several FP 7 projects such as CIRCLE-2 (Climate Impact Research & Response Coordination for a Larger Europe) and SHOPERA (Energy Efficient Safe SHip OPERAtion).
